Are you surprised that there are ghosts on Heritage Hill? Don’t be. The stately homes of Heritage Hill may reflect the grace of another era, but because most of these Victorian dwellings were built in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, ghost stories abound. Some of the accounts are scary, some silly, some believable, some not. We will explore this beautiful neighborhood, while Caroline tells spooky tales that have been passed on to us by either present or once-occupants of the houses.

Explore the haunted streets of old Grand Rapids! Your running guide will narrate stories that will raise your pulse – or was that the exercise? Either way, you’ll enjoy the cool, fresh, fall air on the week before Halloween. Then, bring that pulse down in a restorative yoga class inside a studio in a building with a few spooky stories of its own.
As part of LIGHT UP DOWNTOWN, Grand Rapids Running and Walking Tours is offering a FREE walking event! Are you feeling festive, fun, and frisky? Come dressed in your finest holiday running sweater or tutu or tights as we celebrate the holiday season together. Experience downtown Grand Rapids bejeweled and illuminated with both contemporary and nostalgic lighting displays. The group will trot by uniquely special places, some of which will evoke warm feelings from Christmas’s past. And as a gesture of community kindness, we will give vouchers for meals at Dégagé Ministries for those we pass who may be in need. We will meet and depart from the area in front of the main entrance to the GR Ford Museum.
A FREE seven-week series of 45 minute walks through downtown Grand Rapids. Participants will enjoy a unique tour each week, traversing the sidewalks while focusing on a theme, narrated by Caroline.
For walkers who complete all seven events, they will be rewarded with a $50 gift card to a downtown merchant of their choice.
The walks will meet in the lobby of the JW Marriott on Wednesdays at noon.
